Commandant Lux Livis, of the Timin garrison forced her into a marriage in return for not deporting her to Keira in chains, and so her father hired the crew to kidnap her from Livis' quarters and take her to the Free Towns. The catch being that until she was there she must not know that she is, in fact, being rescued rather than kidnapped.
